This part of Meowdoku usually tests forcing moves by contradiction. Before placing a cat, scan every colored region and identify the smallest one. Then check whether any of its cells would block a neighboring row through diagonal adjacency.
A row with many cells can still be solved if its columns are already constrained elsewhere.
A Reliable Solving Pattern
- 1. Find the smallest or most awkward colored region.
- 2. Remove cells that would touch another forced cat candidate.
- 3. Check whether a row or column has only one legal color left.
- 4. Repeat until every row, column, and color has one cat.
Level 112 Tip
Use color regions before rows
A region that only has a few cells is usually more informative than a row with many possible cells. Mark those region candidates first, then see which rows and columns they affect.
