What to Focus on for Level 176

This part of Meowdoku usually tests long chains across rows, columns, and colors. Before placing a cat, scan every colored region and identify the smallest one. Then check whether any of its cells would block a neighboring row through diagonal adjacency.

If two candidate cats touch diagonally, only one of those branches can survive.

A Reliable Solving Pattern

  1. 1. Find the smallest or most awkward colored region.
  2. 2. Remove cells that would touch another forced cat candidate.
  3. 3. Check whether a row or column has only one legal color left.
  4. 4. Repeat until every row, column, and color has one cat.

Level 176 Tip

Use color regions before rows

A region that only has a few cells is usually more informative than a row with many possible cells. Mark those region candidates first, then see which rows and columns they affect.
